Ask a grandparent what they want for Christmas and you'll hear the same answer every year: "Nothing, we have everything." They mean it. The cupboards are full and the slippers from last year are still in the box.

What they don't have is a little version of themselves on the mantel. A clay figurine made from your photo is a gift about them, not another thing for the shelf. Our studio sculpts each one by hand and paints it to match: his glasses, her curls, the cardigan she always wears. When the family visits, it's the first thing people pick up.

Here are 10 designs that work well for grandparents, grouped by the kind of grandparents you have.

For the two of them

1. Santa and Mrs Claus

If they're the ones who host every Christmas, put them in the suits. Two figures, matching red outfits, a snowy base. It comes out every December with the decorations. Santa and Mrs Claus figurine, from $299.

2. On their bench

A few tips for grandparent gifts

  • Photos. Send a clear face photo and a full-body photo of each person. A photo from a recent family dinner usually works well.
  • Sizes. Classic is 7.1 in (18 cm), Grand 9.1 in (23 cm) and Showpiece 11.8 in (30 cm), measured to the top of the head.
  • Ship it straight to them. Put their address in at checkout. No prices are printed on anything in the box, and the proof photos come to you, not to them.
  • Up to six people on one base. For a bigger family, write to us.

How it works

  1. Send a photo. Pick a design and a size, and add your photos.
  2. We sculpt it by hand. Real clay, shaped and painted by hand. No 3D printing.
  3. You approve the proof. On Standard and Faster you get free proof photos, and we make changes until you love it. Nothing ships until you say yes.
  4. It arrives in a gift box. Tracked to the door, ready to give.

Questions people ask

What if I don't have a great photo of them?
Send the clearest face photo you have, plus a full-body one. On Standard and Faster you see the proof before anything ships, and we keep changing it until it looks like them.

Can the grandkids play with it?
It's a display piece, not a toy, so it's happiest on a shelf or the mantel, out of reach of little hands.

What if it arrives damaged?
Email us within 14 days of delivery with photos. We remake it or refund you in full, your choice.
